Anxiety

Find relief from overwhelming worry and regain control of your life. Our therapists provide compassionate support and evidence-based strategies to help you manage anxiety and build resilience.

Understanding Anxiety

Anxiety is a natural part of life that everyone experiences at times, but for some, it becomes overwhelming, persistent, and difficult to manage. Living with this challenge can feel like a constant weight or a looming shadow, impacting your ability to enjoy life, connect with others, and feel at peace. Unfortunately, anxiety is often misunderstood and dismissed, leaving many to struggle silently.

At Clearview Counselling, we believe that anxiety is real, valid, and manageable with the right support and strategies. According to the Anxiety Canada Association, approximately 1 in 4 Canadians will experience an anxiety disorder at some point in their life. Anxiety can affect all aspects of your well-being, from your ability to focus and engage socially to your physical health and daily activities.

We provide compassionate, professional counselling in a safe, non-judgmental space where you can explore your feelings, understand your triggers, and develop tools to regain control of your life. Our skilled therapists are here to guide and support you on your journey to reducing anxiety and improving your quality of life.

What is Anxiety?

The Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) describes anxiety as “a mental health issue characterized by excessive worry, fear, or tension.” While occasional anxiety is a normal response to stress, persistent or intense anxiety can interfere with daily life, relationships, and your sense of well-being.

Common Symptoms of Anxiety:

•Persistent worry or fear

•Difficulty concentrating

•Restlessness or feeling “on edge”

•Physical symptoms such as rapid heartbeat, sweating, or muscle tension

•Avoidance of situations that cause anxiety

•Sleep disturbances, such as insomnia or difficulty staying asleep

Types of Anxiety Disorders:

Anxiety disorders encompass a range of conditions characterized by excessive worry, fear, or unease that can interfere with daily life. These may include Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD), Social Anxiety, and Panic Disorder, each presenting unique challenges. At Clearview Counselling, we provide personalized support to help you understand your anxiety, develop effective coping strategies, and regain a sense of calm and control.

Phobias

Phobias are intense, irrational fears of specific objects, situations, or activities that can lead to avoidance behaviors and disrupt your life. Whether it’s a fear of heights, flying, or something else, phobias can feel limiting and isolating. Clearview Counselling offers a safe space to explore the roots of your fear, work through it at your own pace, and build confidence to face it.

Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD)

OCD is a condition marked by persistent, intrusive thoughts (obsessions) and repetitive behaviors or mental acts (compulsions) performed to reduce distress. These patterns can be exhausting and disruptive, but with the right support, they are manageable. At Clearview Counselling, we provide a compassionate approach to help you understand and address OCD, reducing its impact on your life and empowering you to regain control.
